Who we are
The Association of Mexican Business Owners of Philadelphia is a non-profit organization established in 2022 as a response to the ravages caused by the Covid-19 pandemic affecting our community of entrepreneurs. Our association now consists of immigrant traders from various Latin American countries. Although initially composed only of Mexicans, we are now also composed with other members of the Latin American immigrant community residing and operating in the City of Philadelphia. We decided to unite and organize ourselves to achieve several purposes, including promoting our economic development and strengthening our presence as a community that contributes to the growth and development of the city.
Our association is many things at once, but primarily, we have built ourselves as a community of mutual support. This initially meant that what we offer to our members can also be understood as what our own members can offer to others within our organization. The idea of our association is to provide simplified and readily accessible access to shared resources, exchange of knowledge, and a learning and skill development and support networks that allow us to grow together with the main objective of achieving greater consolidation in terms of productivity, stability, and growth.
.
We are always in a constant, firm, and continuous process of construction and development.
What do we do?
Primarily, as a collaborative support network, we aim to facilitate access and provide support from various angles through which we offer options and benefits that contribute to strengthening the businesses belonging to our association.
- We provide learning opportunities on topics of interest to our businesses such as workshops, courses, consulting, mentoring, etc., in areas such as business management, administration, planning, among others;
- We offer access to commercial opportunities such as events, campaigns, and also promotion of our brands and businesses;
- We provide support such as conversation cycles, guidance, and mentoring in multiple fields and topics of interest to our businesses.
- Guidance, mentoring, and support in procedures for paperwork, licenses, or permits. We achieve this through our accumulated experience that we share and also thanks to the assistance we receive through our support networks that include contacts with other organizations, government offices, among others.
- Our association is constantly available and increasingly better equipped to offer access to a wide range of supports and programs of various kinds, as well as assistance, support, and guidance for these.
- We are in a constant process of updating lists of commercial opportunities, legal and financial resources among others, which we make available to our members and these include options such as participating in various events, some self-organized and others that are part of our collaboration networks, among others.
- We have support and collaboration networks that put us in direct contact with governmental institutions, NGOs, civil society organizations, public and independent agencies, among others, which we make accessible and available to the needs of our community with the main purpose of strengthening, consolidating, and growing the network of businesses that are part of our Association.
- We are in the process of building the necessary infrastructure to offer a scheme of constant promotion of our associated members through advertising and marketing campaigns through conventional and digital media.
- We have communication groups with our community where we are all in constant communication
What have we done?
Our organization has demonstrated efficient assistance for its members in numerous ways.
We have organized commercial and cultural events (for example, Taco Fiesta 2022 and 2023) that promote the products and services offered by our merchants. We have supported our members with guidance, accompaniment, and counseling regarding licensing and permit procedures, for example, to obtain a permit to have a “Streetery (terrace)”; permit renewals; access to grants; GoFundMe campaigns; financial help; mediation with authorities; access to commercial opportunities; and more.
Together as an organized association, we have strengthened our ability to provide numerous advantages to our associate members as a means of aiding in relevant aspects for the bolstering of our community, for which we are increasingly well-equipped.
